Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Welcome to the next industrial revolution
We develop cutting-edge Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence cloud solutions, including chatbots, intelligent agents, and predictive systems. With the right training data, machine learning systems can learn from historical data to predict unseen patterns.
What is Artificial Intelligence?
Artificial Intelligence is a broad field focused on enabling computers to mimic human behavior. Two areas of AI are particularly relevant to businesses: Machine Learning and Generative AI.
What is Machine Learning?
Machine learning solutions analyze historical data to extract patterns known as models. These models are complex, automatically created programs consisting of millions or billions of interconnected rules, each with a numeric weight. Unlike human-developed programs, machine learning models capture intricate data patterns that humans cannot detect. These models are applied to new data to make decisions.
Machine Learning is typically associated with processing database data or images, rather than engaging in natural language conversations powered by Generative AI (see below).
Is Machine Learning New?
No, Machine Learning has been around for decades. It is a mature technology with widely available, off-the-shelf tools.
When To Use Machine Learning?
A Machine Learning system relies entirely on the data fed to it during training, such as company databases or images. It is effective only when the training data contains answers to the questions posed and the system can match those answers accurately. Machine Learning is beneficial in specific domains.
Integrating machine learning into an organization often involves experimenting with datasets and tasks to identify optimal combinations. We recommend starting with a prototype: select a task, build the system, define performance metrics, and evaluate its capabilities. Then, refine the prototype by testing different data sets, questions, and algorithms. Find your sweet spot given your data, business challenges, and resource constraints. Afterward, a production-level machine learning system can be designed and implemented.
Is Machine Learning the same as Artificial Intelligence?
Theoretically, Machine Learning is a subset of AI. However, in practice, it functions as an independent field.
How Are Generative AI Models Created?
Generative AI leverages machine learning to automatically create Large Language Models (LLMs) by analyzing trillions of words. These models are trained to perform one task: identify the best next word to contibue a query made by a user. Building such models requires tens of thousands of powerful servers working for weeks or months, costing millions of dollars. Once developed, LLMs enable human-like conversations by interpreting text at a basic level.
How Can Generative AI Models Learn My Company Data?
These models are trained on public data. While they possess extensive knowledge, they often lack company-specific details such as internal manuals or product catalog information. Altering these models is prohibitively expensive, so they are typically used as-is. Company-specific data can be incorporated into requests made to the LLM, either fully or partially.
What are AI Chatbots?
AI chatbots offer a modern, cost-effective solution to assist employees or customers in navigating policies, product catalogs, terms and conditions, and more. These chatbots utilize Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI to engage in natural language conversations based on provided documents.
AI in PrivacyDocs
Traditional chatbots have existed for over a decade, often relying on predefined conversation flows and keyword matching. The field has been transformed by AI chatbots powered by Large Language Models (LLMs). LLMs use vast amounts of text data to predict optimal responses based on questions and conversation history. These AI chatbots are easy to implement and excel at maintaining human-like conversations.
BISOT developed the PrivacyDocs GDPR regulatory compliance chatbot, a publicly available AI-based tool. This virtual assistant helps companies discuss GDPR compliance with an AI knowledgeable in GDPR documentation. It navigates documents, identifies non-compliance, suggests improvements, generates policies, and refines compliance texts and reports.
Queries like "list my compliance issues" are answered automatically with impressive accuracy. The chatbot cloud solution relies on Generative AI and can be adapted to other domains by providing new documents and instructions.
AI Agents
AI agents go beyond chatbots by not only interacting with users but also learning from these interactions and taking autonomous actions. This rapidly evolving technology seeks to address common challenges and unlock new business opportunities. At BISOT, we collaborate with clients to explore the possibilities of AI agents.
